The cliff diving elite move to Europe for the season’s second stop

This event will be LIVE on June 30 at 6:45 PM CEST (4:45 PM GMT) on, Red Bull TV, Facebook, Youtube, & Twitch.

The Basque city of Bilbao is the first of six European hosts in the 2018 season as well as the first of two stops solely reserved for the men.

Located on the northern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, less than 20km south of the Bay of Biscay, the city lies within one of the most populous metropolitan areas in northern Spain. Ever since the 14th century, Bilbao has been a commercial hub, has experienced heavy industrialisation and has started a social, economic and aesthetic revitalisation process by the iconic Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The diving location, the Salve Bridge, cuts through one vertex of the triangular site of the museum and will not only welcome the sailors returning from sea, but also the cliff diving elite.

After the huge successes of 2014 and the final showdown in 2015, Bilbao's La Salve Bridge will be the take-off strip for aesthetic freefalls for the third time in the history of Red Bull Cliff Diving.

Tips for the Bilbao Red Bull Cliff Diving (so you don't miss anything)

From a boat or from the coast, on June 30th enjoy the show in Bilbao in the best way.

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is about to begin in Bilbao. The public will be able to enjoy the show from land and sea. The La Salve bridge will be the place to catch all the action.

Do you want to see the event from your boat?

One of the best ways to follow the event is from the Nervión estuary. Boats, rafts, stand up paddles and all kinds of vessels can be transformed for a day into the best "VIP box" to enjoy the show.

In order to enter the Puente de la Salve area with your boat on the day of the event, you must previously download THIS REQUEST, complete it and send it to this address:

The registration period will last until full capacity is reached (the number of boats is limited to 100). The deadline is June 24th.
Timetable for boat access control: 12:30h to 15:30h (Important: there can be no in and out boat movements during the time of the competition: from 16:00h to 19:30h).

Do you want to see the event from the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao esplanade?

You can also follow the event from the mainland. It can be done from anywhere in the city overlooking the Puente de la Salve, but for sure one of the best locations is the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao esplanade.

For logistical and security reasons, the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao esplanade will have a limited capacity of 2,500 spectators.
There are two ways to get to the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao esplanade:

Visit the Oficina de Turismo de Bilbao, in Plaza Biribila 1, on 27, 28 or 29 June from 10h to 20h. There you can pick up your bracelet.

You can register online using the form on this page. The registration period will last until full capacity is reached or until the deadline of June 24th. On the day of the event you must pick up your accreditation wristband at the Punto de Información located next to the "Puppy" right at the entrance to the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao.

How to get to the La Salve Bridge on the day of the event?

  • By train: RENFE, "Bilbao Abando" station.
  • By Bus: Lines 01, 10, 13, 18 and A7 at the stop "Museo 1 / Henao" // Lines 11 and 71 at the stops "La Salve / Igogailua" and "Campo Volantín / La Salve."
  • By tram: Stops at Pío Baroja, Guggenheim and Abandoibarra.
  • By underground: Stop at Moyúa.
  • By car: Parkings Arenal, Pío Baroja, Plaza Euskadi and Palacio Euskalduna.

Advice and suggestions

  • Given the large number of people expected, it is recommended to arrive to the event well in advance.
  • The streets near the Puente de la Salve will be closed to traffic on the day of the event, so it is recommended to use public transport.
  • If you have something to eat or drink, please don't forget to dispose the garbage in the appropriate containers.
  • Although in June the weather should be fine, take an umbrella just to be on the safe side. If the day is too sunny you can use it as a parasol.
  • The divers jump from 27-metre high platform, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to carry binoculars.
  • Make sure your smartphone has a fully charged battery so you can share your photos and videos on social media. Don't forget to use the hashtag #RedBullCliffDiving
