The 2018 season kicks off with a return to Hell’s Gate

A season opener into the flat waters surrounding Hell's Gate guarantees to again become a display of excellence. It was here that reigning World Series champion Jonathan Paredes performed his winning dive for four times the highest note (10) from the judges – still unbeaten since 2016.

Texas leads off the seven stops that will take place in 2018, kick starting what will be the jubilee year of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, going into its 10th season. Possum Kingdom Lake also marks the women's return to their first ever competition back in 2014 and the start into the fifth year of the Women's World Series.

Possum Kingdom Lake in the USA state where everything is bigger is nestled deep in the valley of the Palo Pinto Mountains. The massive reservoir, created by damming the Brazos River, with its incredibly deep waters and its sheer cliffs, is a vacation paradise. The visual feat of two towering cliffs is only outplayed by the divers' complex manoeuvres from almost three times the Olympic diving platform height.

With the fifth return to Texas, Hell's Gate enters the hall of fame of the World Series' all-time favourite locations. Only three out of 31 locations have hosted more stops in the last nine years: Azores, Portugal; La Rochelle, France; and Polignano a Mare, Italy.
