Jimenez and Duque Warm Up Beside Snowy Andes

Adriana Jimenez
Cliff diving pair prepare body and mind for season finale in southern Chile

Just days before the final showdown of the 2017 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in Lago Ranco, Chile, Orlando Duque of Colombia and Mexico's Adriana Jimenez headed south to the beautiful Patagonian village of Puerto Guadal, beside the snow-capped Andes mountains, to enjoy some spectacular scenery and prepare for action this weekend.

With southern Chile currently emerging from winter into spring, the two athletes wrapped up warm during their trip to the village, located near the western end of Chile's largest and most beautiful lake, Lago General Carrera, 1200km south of Lago Ranco. Not only is it the largest lake in Chile, but with 880 km² of its surface area stretching into Argentina it is also that country's 4th largest lake.

The world's best cliff divers have experienced a variety of weather conditions this season; from a wet and windy start in Ireland, to the scorching heat of Hell's Gate in Texas, but Lago Ranco will provide an altogether different test. The air temperature is expected to rise no higher than a chilly 15C, while the water will be in the extremely bone-chilling 10C region.

While Duque is preparing to fight for automatic qualification into the 2018 World Series, Jimenez is involved in a three-way title battle in the women's, along with Rhiannan Iffland and Helena Merten, and has her sights firmly set on taking victory and returning home with the King Kahekili trophy.
