Friday's Diving Cancelled Due to Bad Weather in Azores

Azores
Strong winds and high waves mean remaining rounds will take place on Saturday

Bad weather has forced the cancellation of diving on Friday at the fourth stop of the 2019 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in the Azores, Portugal. The sports committee, who on Thursday decided to bring the first round forward by a day in anticipation of this, have now made the call that it is unsafe for the athletes to compete today due to strong winds and high waves.

Sunnier and calmer conditions are set to bathe the volcanic mid-Atlantic islet on Saturday, when the final rounds will take place as scheduled.

Jonathan Paredes and Rhiannan Iffland lead after their magnificent first round dives from the 'snakehead', and the athletes will now have a day to prepare themselves mentally and physically for what should be an exciting and potentially record-breaking final few rounds on Saturday.
