Shirahama, 16 Oct 2016

There was drama in Shirahama at the penultimate stop of the 2016 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series as the unstoppable Gary Hunt wrapped up his record sixth World Series title with a third-place finish, while Sergio Guzman celebrated a first ever victory at Japan's Sandanbeki cliffs. Steven LoBue achieved his best result of 2016, taking second place on the podium. In the women's competition, wildcard Rhiannan Iffland landed what could turn out to be a crucial blow in her title fight with Canada's Lysanne Richard, who finished third behind the Australian rookie and America's Ginger Huber in second, as 4600 fans watched on excitedly from the cliff top. Iffland now holds a strong lead over Richard heading into the season finale in Dubai, where the women's champion will finally be decided.
