Alessandro De Rose first appeared in the World Series in 2013 – until today the only Italian ever to make it. In 2017 the 26-year-old ultimately lost his freshman status when he took an overwhelming home victory in Polignano a Mare, exactly four years after his first start, making him the first wildcard to ever win in the men's. On top of this, the passionate Italian won the bronze medal at the FINA high diving world championships in 2017 and his permanent ticket for the 2018 was the only logical conclusion.
However, the fairytale didn't continue in 2018 and De Rose failed to hold onto his permanent status. He will appear once again as a wildcard this season.
