Cliff diving's most famous athlete, Orlando Duque, competed in Colombia for the first time in the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series as historic Cartagena hosted the 2015 season-opener.

World Series champion Gary Hunt took the win, but the event was a very special moment for the cliff diving legend, with a crowd of 30,000 spectators showing huge support for the 40-year-old who claimed a third-placed finish.

The emblematic city of Cartagena de Indias, located in the north of Colombia and visited by thousands of tourists from around the world who fall in love with the history of this magnificent port, is full of invaluable artistic and cultural heritage. Cartagena is a city well known for its history linked to pirates; many hundreds arrived from Europe to plunder the treasures of the colonial era, which earned the city the nickname 'the best fortified city of the Americas'.

In 1987, Cartagena's Old Town was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, and its almost perfectly-preserved colonial-era mansions, churches, and ornate balconies are the reason why. A place where you can sit on 16th-century plazas, walk along the walls of a 300-year-old fortress – one of the most impressive architectural feats of military history – and experience a journey through time.
